HardTrack may have been pre-installed onto a Windows device supplied by Wake with your order.  If not, a copy of the HardTrack Install files can be located on the USB drive shipped in the box with your Bluetooth Reader.

1. If HardTrack was pre-installed on your Windows device, skip to the next step.

3. Insert the USB Drive, that was shipped to you in the Bluetooth Reader Box, into your Windows Computer
   
4. Copy the HardTrack Installation Folder to your Windows Computer, then open the folder and click on Setup.exe to install HardTrack.
   
5. If a Key.txt file was provided to you on the USB Drive’s root directory, please copy it to your Windows Computer’s My Documents Folder.
   

1. If you do not see a Key.txt file on the root directory of the USB Drive, the Key.txt file was already included in the HardTrack Install and you need not worry about it at this time.
   

2. The Bluetooth Reader is shipped to you, following FCC regulations, in Flight mode.  This means that the communications radio for communicating with the Tags which is inside of the Bluetooth Reader is off so that it does not disrupt other radio communications during transit.
   

1. Taking the reader out of Flight-Mode
   

2. Connect the USB charging cable to the Bluetooth Reader.  This cable is either in the protective case with the reader or inside of the small white box that was shipped with your order.
   
3. Place the other end of the USB cable into the USB port of your Window Computer.
   

1. This will cause the reader to activate and come out of Flight mode.
   

4. You can leave the reader plugged into your Windows computer at any time to charge it.  You can also use the wall charger that was included in the white box with your order.
   
5. Your reader should arrive with a full charge.
   

2. Pairing your Bluetooth Reader with your Windows 10 Computer
   

3. After taking your reader out of Flight-mode, on your Windows Computer Click on the Windows icon located on the lower left-hand side of your PC’s screen.
   
4. Click the gear icon for Settings.
   
5. From the Setting Home Screen that Displays all the Icons
   

1. Click on Device – Bluetooth, Printers, Mouse
   

2. Click on + Add Bluetooth or other device
   

3. Click on Bluetooth
   

Mice, keyboards, TV’s, or PC’s that use Miracast, or

wireless clocks

It may take a few moments.  However, you should see:

iPORT 350 [your reader’s serial number]

As soon as it appears, please click on it.  After some processing time, you should see:

iPORT 350 [your reader’s serial number]

Paired

4. Click on Done
   

You will also see messages from Windows indicating that the device is being configured and later that the device has been configured.  Please wait until you see the message that the device has been configured.

After Clicking Done, you can scroll down and see that your device is Paired.  If your device is plugged into your Windows Computer, you will also see, Identec Solutions iPORT USB in addition to your Bluetooth connected reader.  It is possible to connect to your reader via the USB rather than Bluetooth if for any reason you would like to do that, please contact Wake Support.

Note: If you miss these messages regarding your device being configured by Windows, you can do the following to check the status of the configuration of your device:

Click on Devices & Printer

You can see the COM port that is assigned to your reader as well, by clicking properties, Hardware:

3. Click on the HardTrack icon located on your Windows Desktop to start HardTrack
   

3. Make sure that you have an Internet Connection
   
4. Accept the License Agreement if you Agree
   
5. Immediately upgrade your HardTrack software to the latest release
   

1. Click on Option, General Option, Check Now
   

1. If you immediately see a question regarding restarting HardTrack, please wait to click yes until the update has completed installing.
   

4. The next step is to select Options, then select Display, this screen allows the user to set defaults for the following:  Reference the Manual Page 7-23, Section 7.
   

6. Time Zone
   
7. Temperature, degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.
   
8. Pressure, concrete strength displayed as MPa (Mega Pascal) or psi(Pounds per Square Inch).
   
9. Time Duration determines how the chronological age is displayed.
   
10. Old Data, flags when displayed data is out of date, download new data.
    
11. Tag Display determines how tags are identified.
    

5. The next step is to select Options, then select Maturity Method; this screen allows you to select the maturity method to use.  Reference the Manual Page 7-25, Section 7.
   

2. TTF (Time Temperature Factor) allows the setting of Datum Temperature.  (Refer to MDOT maturity special provision for settings for the State of Michigan).
   
3. EA (Arrhenius, Equivalent Age) allows the setting of activation energy.
   

6. The next step is to select Options, then select Project Duration, this allows the user to set the project's duration for the graphical display.  Reference the Manual Page 7-26, Section 7.

7. The next step is to get your Bluetooth Reader connected to HardTrack.  Select Options, Readers.  Click Serial/Bluetooth, Set Time before Sleep to 60, Click Reader Frequency, 920 MHz for the USA, Canada, Brazil.  Slide the Reader Communications Range all the way to the Right for Max Power, Set # of Tags Range to 100, 200, 300, 400 or 500.
   

1. Note: The larger the number, the longer and further the reader will search for tags.  This is sometimes needed to read or scan for tags at larger distances and/or when larger quantities or tags are present and/or when there is RF interference from things like human bodies, structures, rain, and high humidity, etc.
   

8. Next step Double Click on the grey button to the right of the key_file reader Serial Number.  This will cause HardTrack to search through the Bluetooth and USB devices configured on your Windows computer to locate the correct device and connect to your reader.  This may take a few moments to complete.
   

When this process is complete, you should see that the COM Port: now has a valid setting in it with a COM#

When HardTrack successfully connects to the reader, you will be returned to the main screen panel of HardTrack.  You will see information like the following displayed:

If you click on Options, Readers, you will that your Reader is Connected and information on your reader will be displayed.

In the future, when you are using HardTrack and you plan to interact with the Tags, you will want to return to Options, Readers and Click Connect to get HardTrack connected to your reader.

You can also check Autoconnect, then OK and whenever you open HardTrack, HardTrack will attempt to connect to your reader.

In the future, if you want to work with projects within HardTrack without connecting to a reader, just Double Click the grey button to the right of HARDTRACK1 to tell HardTrack that you are not working with a connected reader.  This is the normal setting for other copies of HardTrack that your associates may install on their Windows Computers to open projects and work with them without directly working with the Tags.
