How to Fix Error Generating Excel Reports from HardTrack
If while attempting to Export your HardTrack Project to the Project Temperature Report, you see this error:
Please follow these steps to fix the issue in Microsoft 365 and older versions of Microsoft Office:
1) Exit Excel and all other MS Office applications
2) Exit HardTrack Desktop
3) Run Task Manager and End any HardTrack or Excel or Office applications.
4) Repair MS Office:
Open Control Panel
Click Programs & Features
Find and click your Microsoft application in the list, such as Microsoft Office 365.
Click on the app, click Change, then Quick Repair, and follow the onscreen instructions.
5) Try running the Export to Excel again.
Once the fix is applied, retry opening HardTrack, click Project, Open and select project that you would like to Export to the Project Temperature Report.
Click Project, Export, Project Temperature Report Export, click the Excel Export button.
Note: If you see the error again, please reboot your PC and try these steps again.
If the problem persists, you may have to manually edit the following Registry key using Regedit:
This example if for Office 2019:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{00020813-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
\1.9\0\win64]
@="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Root\\Office16\\EXCEL.EXE"
Rename the key from Win64 to Win32
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{00020813-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
\1.9\0\win32]
@="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Root\\Office16\\EXCEL.EXE"
For other versions of Office, the same key can be found. However, the \1.9\ may have a different value, for example:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{00020813-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
\1.8\0\win64]
@="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Root\\Office15\\EXCEL.EXE"
Rename the key from Win64 to Win32
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{00020813-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
\1.8\0\win32]
@="C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Root\\Office15\\EXCEL.EXE"
Another cause of similar errors when exporting HardTrack Project to Excel, is the Network Security Policies on the output folder from HardTrack, may block HardTrack from creating the Excel Workbook at the typical location of Documents that are synchronized to a network folder.
You can change the location that HardTrack uses to export its reports by opening HardTrack and clicking on Options, Display and set the Report Location Manually:
Please remember to include the "\" at the end of the Report Location and click OK to complete the update. You can also click on Set Report Location to browse to the folder that you would like to use
